Stripped of his powers for failing to execute a fox spirit, the hero Jiang Ziya is banished.
He later meets an amnesiac girl, Xiao Jiu, who resembles the spirit, and helps her on a journey of redemption.
He eventually discovers that Heaven’s plan is a lie and that the girl’s “reincarnation” is a trap.
Realizing the corruption of the gods, Jiang Ziya rebels, saving the girl and severing the mortal realm’s connection to the heavens, becoming a true hero in his own right.
