“The Girl from Hong Kong”
tells the story of Han Ki-Chul,
a Korean gangster tasked with looking after Lim Aryong, a mysterious figure sent by his Hong Kong boss. Expecting a formidable male gangster, Ki-Chul is surprised to find Aryong is a woman, and an exceptionally cold and intimidating one at that.
Communication is further complicated by the language barrier, until the arrival of Yeon-Hee, an inept translator who frequently misinterprets Aryong’s curt remarks. However, Aryong soon reveals her true colors: a skilled martial artist who effortlessly dispatches their rivals.
Ki-Chul and his crew, initially intimidated by Aryong’s strength, begin to admire her. Aryong, in turn, softens towards them, despite Yeon-Hee’s continued attempts to portray her as an intimidating figure.
Their peace is shattered by an attack from professional assassins, who are targeting Aryong, not Ki-Chul. Aryong’s true identity is revealed: the daughter of a powerful Hong Kong boss, falsely accused of murder.
After a series of thrilling escapes and intense confrontations, Aryong finally confronts her true enemy and avenges her father’s death.
As Ki-Chul prepares to leave Hong Kong, Aryong, remembering her father’s lifelong regret over losing his own love, decides to keep Ki-Chul by her side. In a dramatic scene, she proposes to him, much to the amusement of her subordinates, and their unlikely romance begins.
