Nineteen-year-old Yoon-young,
aspiring to be a civil servant, lives with her single,
deaf mother and works part-time at a café. One night, after being assaulted and raped by her mother’s co-worker, she kills him when he threatens her mother.
Imprisoned and known only as prisoner number 2037, she is devastated to discover she’s pregnant.
In her despair, she withdraws from her mother but finds solace and protection among her fellow inmates in cell room 12, each with their own unique stories.
