After Herbie’s racing prowess is revealed, Maggie enters him in competitions. Despite a setback where Herbie’s jealousy causes them to lose to NASCAR champion Trip Murphy, Maggie reclaims Herbie.
With her family’s racing team facing financial woes, Maggie and a rebuilt Herbie enter a NASCAR race.
After overcoming obstacles and Trip’s sabotage, Herbie and Maggie win, with Maggie becoming a celebrated racer. The film ends with Herbie finding romance with another sentient car.
