“Once Upon a Time in High School:
The Spirit of Jeet Kune Do” is a 2004 South Korean action drama set in 1978 Seoul.
Teenager Kim Hyun-soo transfers to a notoriously violent high school
where he faces brutality from teachers and a gang led by Jong-Hoon.
Inspired by Bruce Lee, Hyun-soo trains in Jeet Kune Do and nunchucks to stand up for himself.
The film also depicts his romantic pursuit of Eun-joo,
which creates conflict with his friend Woo-sik, and his struggle to meet his father’s academic expectations.
