Aspiring lawyer Jung-Yeob takes a temporary job at a child welfare center in his hometown.
He encounters 10-year-old Da-Bin and her younger brother, Min-Joon,
who are being abused by their stepmother. Despite his awareness, Jung-Yeob feels powerless to help.
After securing a job in Seoul, he leaves. Tragically, he later receives news that Da-Bin has killed Min-Joon.
